Buying a new phone, laptop or smartwatch can get expensive quickly, especially when the previous generation still offers more than enough performance for everyday use. Back Market focuses on professionally refurbished electronics, giving shoppers another way to buy popular devices at lower prices than equivalent new models.
The marketplace currently covers smartphones, MacBooks, Windows laptops, tablets, AirPods, gaming consoles, smartwatches and home electronics. Eligible devices are professionally refurbished and sold with a 1-year warranty, free 30-day returns and an inspection process of up to 100 points.
Here are four popular refurbished devices currently available.
iPhone 15
The iPhone 15 remains a strong option for people who want a relatively recent iPhone without paying the price of the newest generation.
Current listings through Back Market show unlocked refurbished iPhone 15 models starting from around $409, compared with a referenced new price of $729. Exact pricing varies according to storage, color, cosmetic grade and seller.
The iPhone 15 introduced USB-C charging to the standard iPhone range and includes Apple’s Dynamic Island, a 48MP main camera and the A16 Bionic chip. For everyday photography, social media, streaming and general use, it still provides a modern smartphone experience without necessarily moving to a Pro model.
With refurbished electronics, condition matters. Back Market grades products by cosmetic condition while requiring devices to remain fully functional.
Best for: users upgrading from an older iPhone who want modern features without paying flagship-new pricing.

MacBook Air M1
The M1 MacBook Air remains one of the most practical refurbished laptop choices for everyday work and study.
Current Back Market listings show M1-series MacBook Air models starting from approximately $420, compared with a referenced original new price of $999.
Apple’s M1 chip marked a major improvement in performance and efficiency compared with earlier Intel-based MacBook Air models. The laptop is still well suited to web browsing, office work, video calls, writing, light photo editing and general productivity.
Because the Air uses a fanless design, it also operates quietly. Battery life remains another major attraction for people who want a laptop they can carry between home, work and university.
Back Market currently grades refurbished laptops as Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. The differences mainly concern cosmetic condition; all listed grades are required to be fully functional.
Best for: students, remote workers and anyone who wants an affordable entry into Apple Silicon.

iPad Air 6 with M2
For people who want something lighter than a laptop but more capable than a basic tablet, the iPad Air 6 provides a useful middle ground.
The 2024 M2-series iPad Air is currently available through Back Market, with refurbished models starting around $507.95 versus a referenced new price of $599.
The M2 processor gives the tablet enough performance for multitasking, photo editing, drawing, note-taking and many productivity applications. It can also work with compatible Apple Pencil and keyboard accessories, allowing it to function as a lightweight work or study setup.
For users who mainly work with documents, streaming, browsing and creative apps, a refurbished iPad Air can provide many of the benefits of a newer tablet while lowering the initial cost.
Best for: students, creatives, travellers and users who want a versatile tablet for both work and entertainment.

Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is designed for people who want more battery life, a larger display and a more rugged design than the standard Apple Watch range.
Refurbished Apple Watch Ultra 2 models currently start at around $434 on Back Market, compared with a referenced new price of $899.
The Ultra series is aimed heavily at outdoor and fitness use, with GPS functionality, activity tracking, water resistance and a larger case designed for improved visibility during exercise.
For buyers who like the Ultra design but find the original retail price difficult to justify, refurbished units can make the model significantly more accessible.
Cosmetic condition, battery condition and accessories can vary between individual listings, so shoppers should review the exact product page before choosing a specific unit.
Best for: fitness tracking, outdoor activities and users who want Apple’s larger premium smartwatch.

Warranty and Returns Add Extra Reassurance
One concern people often have about refurbished electronics is what happens if something goes wrong.
The current Back Market promise includes a 1-year warranty and free 30-day returns, together with professional refurbishment and quality inspection requirements.
That gives shoppers more protection than buying an unknown second-hand device directly from another individual.
A Different Way to Upgrade Your Tech
Not everyone needs the latest generation of every device.
An iPhone 15 is still a capable smartphone. The M1 MacBook Air remains useful for everyday productivity. The M2 iPad Air provides plenty of tablet performance, while the Apple Watch Ultra 2 continues to offer premium fitness and outdoor features.
The advantage of shopping through Back Market is being able to compare different generations, storage configurations and cosmetic grades before deciding how much you actually need to spend.
For shoppers who care more about value and functionality than opening a factory-sealed box, refurbished technology can make premium electronics considerably easier to access.
